Scripps Fills Two Key Newspaper Positions With Industry Veterans
CINCINNATI, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Two professionals with accomplished careers in the newspaper industry have filled key corporate positions for The E. W. Scripps Company (NYSE:SSP). Robin Davis has been named controller for the newspaper division, and Dell Campbell is the division's new director of circulation operations.
Davis, 36, was most recently vice president and chief financial officer of Pulitzer Newspapers Inc. in St. Louis, where she was responsible for finance and human resources and oversaw the operations of two newspapers. She was also responsible for the execution of more than 20 acquisitions and/or dispositions.
Currently assistant controller, Davis will become controller of the newspaper division tomorrow after the long-planned departure of Bill Freeman, who retires today after more than 30 years with the company.
Before joining Pulitzer in 1998, Davis worked for three years as manager of financial reporting for Sigma Aldrich Corporation. From 1991 to 1995, she was in the St. Louis office of the accounting firm Deloitte and Touche.
Campbell, 63, most recently was the first president and chief executive officer of STL Distribution, which handles the distribution of numerous publications, including The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. From 1988 to 1998, he was with The Kansas City Star, where he was vice president of operations. He also was involved in engineering the combination of The Kansas City Times and The Kansas City Star in the early 1990s.
He began his career at The Star-Telegram in Ft. Worth, Texas, as a newspaper carrier and rose to become circulation director.
