RadioShack Corporation and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's Reel StreetSentz Contest Unveils Winning Public Service Announcement

Student's Public Service Announcement Distributed to Television and Radio Stations Nationwide

FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RadioShack Corporation (NYSE:RSH) and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children(R) (NCMEC) today released the winning public service announcement (PSA) from its Reel StreetSentz competition for teens. Fifteen-year-old Rachel Friesel's winning storyboard, The Jungle, beat out more than 400 students from across the nation in a contest that featured kids educating their peers and communities about ways to keep children safer from abduction, exploitation and violence.

Friesel had the opportunity to work with a professional film crew to turn her script and storyboard into a 30-second PSA. The spot focuses on Internet safety and how parents and guardians need to help children protect themselves from online victimization through prevention education. Beginning today the PSA will be distributed to broadcasters nationwide.

"Rachel created a powerful PSA that focuses on Internet safety from a youth's point of view," said Laura Moore, senior vice president and chief communications officer of RadioShack Corporation. "This contest enabled students to use their creativity and writing skills to educate families throughout the nation about staying safer and protecting themselves from abduction and sexual exploitation."

The Reel StreetSentz PSA competition is an extension of the StreetSentz program launched in 2003 by RadioShack and NCMEC. The goal of the program is to educate families about ways to keep children safer from abduction, exploitation, and violence.

"According to the Department of Justice, one in five children online is sexually solicited," said Ernie Allen, NCMEC's president and CEO. "NCMEC congratulates Rachel for developing a PSA that reminds families of the importance of educating children and teens about Internet safety so they can have a positive experience online."

Circle R Media, an independent film and audio production facility in Fort Worth, brought Friesel's concept to life during the one-day shoot. Friesel was on hand for the production and had the opportunity to provide creative input to the crew during the shoot.

"Circle R Media was honored to work with Friesel and to provide the animation for the PSA," said Circle R Media COO Tim Davis.

While on the set, Friesel was visited by one of the contest judges, producer and co-creator of "Project Greenlight" Chris Moore. Other contest judges included actors/"Project Greenlight" co-creators Matt Damon and Ben Affleck; Dr. Daniel Broughton, Professor of Pediatrics at Mayo Clinic and former Chairman of the Board of Directors, NCMEC; and Ernie Allen.
