Contemporary R&B Crooner Ginuwine Hits the Road for Another BET Presents: Ladies Night Out Tour & Drops His Newest Single
R&B Chart-Toppers Jagged Edge Also on the Bill; Anticipated New CD Set to Drop 3/28
Supporting Acts for Various Dates Include Donnel Jones, Case & Ne-Yo
NEW YORK, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- As his romantic, love-themed fifth CD release, Back II Da Basics (Sony Urban Music/Epic Records), continues gathering steam and climbing the national charts, R&B superstar Ginuwine sets off a double-whammy "love attack" for his diehard, predominantly female audience. Just in time for Valentine's Day (impacting at radio on February 13th) -- and hot on the heels of his steamy sleeper hit, "When We Make Love" -- is the release of the second Back II Da Basics single, the dreamy 'n melodic "I'm In Love." An ear-pleasing ballad of the first order, longtime fans will be pleasantly reminded of past Ginuwine chart/radio hits like "In Those Jeans," "Differences," "Stingy," "So Anxious," "Same Ol G" and "None Of Ur Friend's Business." Already winning great reviews and enthusiastic responses from radio stations across the country, "I'm In Love" will be well on its way to becoming a bonafide chart hit just as he launches the second part of his two-prong "love attack," another cross-country BET Presents: Ladies Night Out Tour with fellow R&B acts Jagged Edge, Donnel Jones, Case and newcomers Ne-Yo. Sure to result in cross-the-board sold-out venues, much like their first Ladies Night Out trek, this tour will find too-fine Ginuwine and his tour mates touching down and tearing up stages in most major U.S. cities.
Sure to blaze a trail across the country with his dependably energetic live performances, while leaving more than a few broken hearts in his aftermath, Ginuwine's return to the live stage builds on the momentum set by high-profile Back II Da Basics promotional activities, which have found the one-time "bachelor" doing everything from performing/presenting on popular TV shows/award shows like the Tyra Banks Show, the Ellen Degeneres Show, the American Music Awards, Soul Train, the VIBE Awards and the Tom Joyner Show, to gracing the pages of VIBE, People, Rolling Stone, USA Today, Billboard, Black Beat, BE (Black Elegance), Essence, Upscale and other publications. Additionally, fans and supporters can look forward to seeing Ginuwine jump start his soon-to-be-announced clothing line (Genuine Clothes Co./Genuine Jeans), as well as make good on past big screen aspirations like Honey and Juwanna Man when he steps in front of the cameras (this March) to film his role in the forthcoming Rhythm Night (co-starring Whoopi Goldberg).
Jagged Edge is preparing to release their fifth studio album appropriately self-titled, Jagged Edge (Sony Urban Music/Columbia Records) on March 28, 2006. The album was executive produced by JE's Brandon Casey and Brian Casey and features tracks produced by Tha Corna Boyz, Dwayne Nesmith & Pierre Medor, Jermaine Dupri, Chad "Dr. Cuess" Elliot, Don Vito and Cheese, as well as Brandon Casey and Brian Casey. Guest artists on Jagged Edge include Bad Girl (on "Crying Out") (Bad Girl are artists on the Casey brothers' own 581 Music Group), Voltio (on "So Amazing," the album's first single), John Legend (on "Season's Change"), and Big Duke of Boyz N Da Hood (on "Sexy American Girls").
Jagged Edge first exploded onto the urban contemporary music scene in 1998 with the group's debut album A Jagged Era, which established them as the "Kings of Hip-Hop/Soul." Jagged Edge's breakthrough second album, 2000's J.E. Heartbreak, achieved RIAA double-platinum status, driven in part by the singles "He Can't Love U," "Promise," and the smash "Let's Get Married." A year-and-a-half after its release, the album was still on the Billboard 200 album chart. The group's next platinum album, Jagged Little Thrill, featured their raucous hit "Where The Party At" (featuring Nelly) which reached #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks Chart and #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The next Jagged Edge album, Hard, earned the group its fourth consecutive RIAA gold award certification while the album's first single, "Walked Outta Heaven," become the #1 best-selling single, according to SoundScan, on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart for seven weeks in a row. To date, the best-selling hip-hop/soul group has earned nine gold, platinum, and multi-platinum certifications from the RIAA.
To support Hard, Jagged Edge took the group's show on the road, thrilling audiences worldwide as part of the sold-out Seagram's, 112 and Ginuwine tours. Once the tour schedule eased up, Jagged Edge headed back into their Atlanta studio to begin work on the quartet's fifth LP.
