Essie Chambers Is Named Vice President, Development for The N, the Nighttime Network for Teens

NEW YORK, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Essie Chambers has been named Vice President of Development for The N, the nighttime network for teens, it was announced today by Amy Friedman, Senior Vice President, Development and Creative Director, Nickelodeon Digital Television.

Formerly, Executive Director of Development for Noggin/The N, Chambers will continue to oversee the day to day operations of Development for The N, managing all aspects of development and contributing to the overall network strategy for the teen network. In her new position, she will now also oversee new talent and diversity agendas for the network.

"Anyone who knows Essie knows she is a superstar. Her combination of creativity and diplomacy coupled with her insight into what teens want continues to put The N on the map," said Friedman.

Chambers has been with Noggin since the network's inception in 1998 and has been an integral part of producing original programming. Chambers developed and oversaw production on series such as, Noggin's Oobi, and The N's Radio Free Roscoe, Out There, the award-winning documentary I Sit Where I Want: The Legacy of Brown V. Board, and the critically acclaimed mini-series Miracle's Boys. Chambers entered the Viacom family in 1996 where she served as a creative executive for Nickelodeon's Creative Lab, developing and producing short films.

Prior to her tenure at Viacom, Chambers worked as a researcher for the television newsmagazine show American Journal, and a freelance writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer. Chambers earned a Bachelor's degree in English and Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

The N, the nighttime network for teens, is a programming arm of MTV Networks and is currently available in 45 million households via cable, digital cable and satellite television. The N's mission is to be the authentic voice for teens and help them figure out their lives with relevant, topical programming on-air and online at the network's web site http://www.the-n.com/.
