Belinda Jensen Extends Chief Meteorologist Commitment at KARE 11 News
MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Belinda Jensen, KARE 11 meteorologist since 1993, has entered a long-term agreement as KARE 11's Chief Meteorologist. She replaces Ken Barlow who held the position since 1994. Barlow left the market in December to return to his native New England.
Jensen's primary role had been weekend meteorologist but she is also well- known as the host of KARE 11's popular Saturday morning show and co-presenter for the weekly gardening feature, Grow with KARE, and also as an outdoor reporter for Minnesota Bound.
"Belinda is a superb meteorologist," said John Remes, president and general manager at KARE 11. "But that's just her starting point. She adds value in several roles across our schedule. And beyond the station, she has a remarkable record of involvement in schools and community organizations.
"The only thing better than having a talent like Belinda is knowing that she will be here for years to come," he added.
Jensen, who has the AMS Seal of Approval as a certified broadcast meteorologist, studied at the University of Wisconsin. She worked for three years at KTVX in Salt Lake City before coming to KARE 11. Belinda is a native of Prescott, Wisconsin.
"It has been a great fit," said Jensen. "At KARE, it's perfectly natural for a meteorologist to extend herself into different areas. Good weather reporting supports the great lifestyles people enjoy here."
