SunTrust Celebrates the Power of Community Through Its Sponsorship of the Documentary, 'Summer Hill,' to Air Nationally on PBS

ATLANTA, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- SunTrust Banks, Inc. announced today that it is sponsoring a documentary about community, "Summer Hill," that will air nationally on Public Broadcasting Stations starting in February.

Located on a rise overlooking the town of Cartersville in Northwest Georgia, the community of Summer Hill nurtured four generations of black Americans, and produced Georgia's first black Supreme Court justice; a famous Motown song-writer; teachers, ministers, doctors, lawyers, and other professionals despite poverty, racism and segregation laws.

Produced by David Hughes Duke of Duke & Associates, Inc., "Summer Hill" uses first-person narratives of residents with archival photographs and visual recreations of scenes and events. It originated as an oral history project commissioned by Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga. and the Summer Hill Foundation.
