KEXP Announces Song of the Day Podcast

SEATTLE, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- KEXP (90.3 FM and KEXP.ORG) announces KEXP's Song of the Day -- a new podcast service beginning February 6, 2006. This podcast will feature a new song every day that subscribers will receive automatically when they go to iTunes or KEXP.ORG.

KEXP's Song of the Day podcast will feature exclusive in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent musicians that KEXP thinks listeners should hear along with songs from more well-known artists. In the first few weeks, listeners will receive unreleased songs from Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Tom Brousseau and Silversun Pickups, live studio performances from Mike Doughty, They Might Be Giants and Northwest hip-hop band Common Market, and studio recordings from Cloud Cult, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Calexico/Iron and Wine.

Here is KEXP's Song of the Day line-up for the first ten days:
Monday 2/6 Ted Leo and the Pharmacists "Sons of Cain"
Tuesday 2/7 Cloud Cult "Transistor Radio"

Wednesday 2/8 Clap Your Hands Say Yeah "Upon This Tidal Wave of Young Blood"

Thursday 2/9 They Might Be Giants "New York City"
Friday 2/10 Common Market "Connect For"
Monday 2/13 50 Foot Wave "Hot, Pink, Distorted"

KEXP is at the forefront of music podcasting. KEXP is currently offering three full-song podcast subscriptions to its listeners worldwide. KEXP began producing monthly full-song podcasts in July of 2005, making KEXP the first radio station in the U.S. to offer music podcasts of this scope. In December 2005 alone, KEXP podcasts received a half-million hits.

Currently listeners can subscribe to the following podcasts:

Music That Matters -- hosted by KEXP DJs featuring their favorite songs from national and Northwest artists

KEXP Live Performances -- exclusive performances from KEXP live in-studio sessions

Sonarchy -- live performances featuring experimental Northwest artists
