The bidding on the Harley took place at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The high bid of $1 million was made by avid car collector and well-known Houston attorney and philanthropist, John O'Quinn.
This Harley-Davidson motorcycle is signed by 67 of the nation's most famous personalities including Presidents George H.W. Bush and William J. Clinton, and other famous celebrities like Jay Leno, Donald Trump, Leonardo DiCaprio, Scarlett Johansson, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Demi Moore, Ellen DeGeneres, Snoop Dogg, Samuel L. Jackson and future baseball Hall of Famer Roger Clemens of the Houston Astros.
In response to the recent devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, New Orleans native and Waste Management CEO David Steiner wanted to find a way to make a difference in the lives of thousands in the Gulf Coast region.
"About a year ago, we were able to help people in Asia by buying this motorcycle. In the time that we had the bike, it became a source of pride for our employees and helped other good causes important to the communities and customers we serve. It raised money for scholarships, breast cancer awareness and fighting crime. Today, we are able to help thousands more here at home by donating the Harley. This is a great example of how all of us can find a way to 'pay it forward' this holiday season," said Steiner.
