SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Video editors will get a first-hand look at how the new award-winning FileMaker Pro 8 (www.filemaker.com/products) helps manage business and creative processes at two meetings of the Final Cut Pro Users Groups in New York City and Connecticut. The Connecticut Final Cut Pro Users Group (www.ctfcpug.org) will meet Wednesday, December 14, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Apple Store, 500 Westfarms Mall, Farmington, Connecticut.

The New York City Final Cut Pro Users Group (www.nycfcpug.com) will meet Thursday, December 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Apple Store SOHO, 103 Prince St., New York.

The two meetings will feature a demo of the new FileMaker Pro 8 -- launched in late August -- given by Jim English, founder and CEO of EnglishComp, Ltd., a New York City-based company specializing in FileMaker Pro solutions for advertising, publishing, and creative industries.

Also featured will be Ramy Katrib, CEO and founder of West Hollywood-based DigitalFilm Tree (www.digitalfilmtree.com), who will provide an overview on how applications like Final Cut Pro, FileMaker and related technologies come together in terms of the creative process and business management.

DigitalFilm Tree (DFT) is a research and development-based post facility, specializing in consulting and workflow design. DFT's offerings include online mastering, color correction, VFX, and design work. The company's credits include first time filmmakers as well as the feature films "Cold Mountain" and "Napoleon Dynamite" and the TV series "Scrubs."

FileMaker Pro forms the backbone of DigitalFilm Tree's tracking and asset management infrastructure. DigitalFilm Tree utilizes various custom-built FileMaker databases for everything from invoicing, to digital dailies, asset management, visual effects status tracking, production and editorial databases.

"FileMaker Pro 8 is like a Swiss Army knife for video professionals and filmmakers because it can help them in so many parts of their business," said Ramy Katrib, CEO of DigitalFilm Tree. "Production pros can store all their digital assets in a single location and easily search and retrieve them. Dailies can be managed in FileMaker and with one click, remote production teams can share images via the web. And with Final Cut Pro's support of XML, users can create 'custom' applications and utilities that interface between FileMaker, Final Cut Pro, and related technologies."
