City Bells Everywhere to Commemorate Timeless Melodies

City Bells Everywhere to Commemorate Timeless Melodies

CALGARY, Canada, December 20/PRNewswire/ --

- Annual New Year's Eve Celebration Will Honour the Greatest Songs of
History

Beginning on New Year's eve 2007, city bells worldwide will ring in the
New Year with a timeless melody. The annual event is the brainchild of R.B.
Newberry, creator of an anticipated television series called 'Archivillia'
(pronounced 'ark-uh-vill-ee-uh' - a combination of the words 'Archive' and
'Villia').

The Archivillia television series will center around a school of history
looking back on the 20th century. "Essentially, it views the 20th century
through the eyes of the future," says Newberry, who believes that music will
be the art form most remembered by future societies. The genesis of this idea
first occurred to him in the late 1970's, and he's been developing it since
the year 2000.

The idea of ringing city bells worldwide came from the pilot episode of
the Archivillia audio drama, 'The Bells of History.' Until a television
producer signs on, Archivillia will be produced as an audio drama and comic
on the Internet. Earlier this year, bells were rung around the world to mark
the 200th anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar.

Bells were chosen as the topic of the Archivillia pilot episode and as a
promotional device because of their historical significance. Once the only
way most people had of telling time, bells are a symbol of time itself. The
word clock is derived from the Medieval Latin word for Bell.

Bells are also very spiritual. In medieval times they baptized bells, as
they believed they warded off evil spirits. 'Passing Bells' were rung to ward
off evil spirits that were ready to seize a person's soul as he died.

A list of songs for consideration will be compiled with public input.
Anyone interested can post their thoughts in a special forum at
www.archivillia.com. A committee will determine the final choices.
