Award Winners of the Asian Festival Of 1st Films

SINGAPORE, Dec. 2 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- After a week of festivities and island-wide film screenings, the award winners of the world's inaugural Asian Festival of 1st Films (AFFF) were announced on 30 November, 2005 at the Singapore Victoria Theatre.

JURY

The jury comprised of the following established international film -- and documentary-makers.

Mahesh Bhatt : Producer, Director and Writer (India)
Andy Glynne : Documentary-maker (UK)
Ahn Soo Hyun : Producer (Korea)
Nonzee Nimibutr : Director (Thailand)

AWARD WINNERS -- FEATURE FILMS

Best Producer : Tiara Jacquelina for the film Puteri Gunung Ledang
(Malaysia)
Best Director : Xiao Jiang for the film Electric Shadows (China)
Best Film : The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros by Raymond Lee and
Auraeus Solito (The Philippines)
Best Cinematographer: Aseem Bajaj for the film Chameli by Sudhir Mishra
(India)
Best Actor : Saksham Kulkarni for his performance in Pak Pak Pakaak
by Gautam Joglekar (India)
Best Actress : Anita Majumdar for her performance in Murder Unveiled by
Vic Sarin (Canada)
Best Writer (Screenplay/Script): Brenda Tong Kin Ping for the film
Mandheling by Franca Lam (Hong Kong)

AWARD WINNERS - DOCUMENTARIES

Best Documentary: I for India by Sandhya Suri (UK)
Best Director of Documentary: Yang Yonghi for the documentary Dear
yongyang (Japan)

The award winners were honoured with AFFF trophies, designed and proudly sponsored by Mr Sanjay Sharma, the Country Manager for Swarovski Crystal Components Business, India. In addition, winners of the Best Film and Best Documentary awards received cash prizes of US$7,000 and US$3,000 respectively.

JURY COMMENDATION

At the inaugural AFFF, the jury also awarded special commendation to two film-makers for exceptional documentary work.
