Academy Award(R) Winner Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey Star in the High Stakes, Adrenaline-Charged Thriller 'Two For the Money'

Available on DVD January 17, 2006 From Universal Studios Home Entertainment

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The smart money is on heart-pounding excitement when Oscar(R) winner Al Pacino ("Carlito's Way," "Scent of a Woman"), Matthew McConaughey ("Sahara," "A Time to Kill"), Rene Russo ("The Thomas Crown Affair," "Tin Cup") and Jeremy Piven (HBO's "Entourage") team up in the high-stakes gambling thriller "Two For the Money," on DVD January 17, 2006 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Directed by D.J. Caruso ("Taking Lives," "The Salton Sea") from a script by Dan Gilroy ("Freejack," "Chasers"), "Two For the Money" is a tautly told tale of winners and losers in a cutthroat world where fortunes are made on Sunday and lost on Monday.

Academy Award(R) winner Pacino scores another cinematic touchdown as Walter Abrams, the megalomaniacal head honcho of a hugely successful sports betting company. Abrams, a recovering addict with an insatiable appetite for winning, discovers that down-on his-luck ex-college football player Brandon Lang (Matthew McConaughey) is in a league of his own when it comes to picking football game winners. With Abrams as his coach, Lang dominates the $200 billion sports gambling industry with his predictions. But all bets are off when the ex-jock from the boondocks challenges his mentor to a deadly game of manipulation and deceit that only one of them can win. The DVD and VHS are priced at $29.98; pre-order close is December 13, 2005.

SYNOPSIS

Brandon Lang (Matthew McConaughey) is a former college football star sidelined by a devastating injury, but his unparalleled ability to predict the outcome of football games attracts the attention of Walter Abrams (Al Pacino), head of one of the biggest sports consulting operations in the country. Walter molds the small town ex-athlete into a big-time sports consultant named John Anthony, a fast-talking smoothie with all the right answers. After his killer instinct for victory hooks the ultimate high roller, Novain (Armand Assante), a gambler of apparently unlimited means, his golden touch begins to fail him. At the same time, Walter's game plan for his protege crosses a dangerous line. With millions of dollars at stake, Brandon and Walter go head to head, each one trying to outplay the other while everyone in their world, including Walter's wife, Toni (Rene Russo) and Brandon's bitter rival, Jerry (Jeremy Piven), is drawn into the deadly scrimmage.
