DALLAS, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time ever, WinStar Casinos has launched an aggressive advertising campaign -- and new, state-of-the-art website -- to lure Dallas-area gamblers to its sprawling gaming facility just across the border in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

The campaign, created by Ackerman McQueen, Dallas, utilizes humorous television and outdoor advertising to leverage WinStar's close proximity to Dallas, in an effort to lure customers away from casinos in Shreveport, LA. WinStar Casinos is located on Interstate 35, just 90 minutes from Dallas, while Shreveport is a 7-hour round-trip drive for Dallas gamblers.

"WinStar Casinos' close proximity to the Dallas-Fort Worth market represents a tremendous marketing opportunity for the client and our campaign will take full advantage of that significant opportunity," said David Lipson, President of Ackerman McQueen. The campaign, which includes outdoor executions designed to replicate highway mileage signs, utilizes simple humor to highlight WinStar Casinos' close proximity to Dallas. For example, some signs read:

In addition, a series of four television spots uses humor to depict the long, monotonous drive to Shreveport and some common frustrations that often accompany such a trek, marketing WinStar Casinos as "Half the Distance, Twice the Fun!"

Lipson noted that the campaign is based on marketing research results that indicated that a vast majority of Shreveport gamblers come from the Dallas- Fort Worth area.

"WinStar is not only half the distance, but offers a massive, full-service gaming experience," Lipson said. "It is a closer, better option for Texas customers and it is our job, as an agency, to market that message."

WinStar's new marketing and image campaign also includes the launching of a state-of-the-art website, http://www.winstarcasinos.com/. This virtual WinStar Casinos experience allows visitors to view and tour WinStar properties as if they have been transported into the actual venues.

"Potential customers can maneuver the site and virtually walk about the casino as if they were actually there," Lipson explained. "Instead of spending seven hours driving to Shreveport and back, Dallas customers can log onto the website and see the grandeur of a WinStar Casino just ninety minutes away."

WinStar Casinos is located in Thackerville, OK, on I-35 just across the TX/OK border, about 90 minutes from Dallas.
