The Greatest Names in Motor Racing to Be Broadcast Live on Internet TV
KYALAMI, South Africa, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The inaugural GP Masters race, featuring some of the world's greatest motor racing stars, is to be globally available, live on the Internet from South Africa through Narrowstep, the TV on the Internet company, in conjunction with Lixxus (broadband & voice).
The Altech Grand Prix Masters of South Africa race is the inaugural event for the 2006 series which takes place in Kyalami on November 11th - 13th. The pay-to-view video site at www.gpmasters.com will be available from Thursday, November 10th, showing news, interviews, qualifying and culminating in the premiere event on Sunday afternoon, broadcast using Narrowstep's Television Operating System(TM) (TelVOS(TM)).
Some of the legendary names in world motor sport will be racing at the circuit, last used in 1993, and they'll be reunited in a 'world-first' Grand Prix Masters event, including world champions Nigel Mansell, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Alan Jones (Australia), plus world famous stars such as Rene Arnoux (France), Christian Danner (Germany), Andrea De Cesaris (Italy), Stefan Johansson (Sweden), Jan Lammers (The Netherlands), Ricardo Patrese (Italy), and Derek Warwick (UK) to name just a few.
The illustrious Murray Walker has even agreed to come out of retirement to commentate on the event, promising his usual mix of dramatic delivery and memorable 'faux-pas.' The cars are ferocious 600-brake horse power (bhp) cars, capable of over 200mph powered by an 80-degree 3.5-litre V8 Nicholson McLaren engine. Tests at Silverstone saw Nigel Mansell and Emerson Fittipaldi hammering in fast laps and needing all their experience to stay on the track.
Viewers can log onto www.gpmasters.com and follow the links to the live action, where you can buy tickets to watch the race live on Sunday for GBP4.99 (approximately USD$9.00/7.50 Euro), or watch it later 'on demand' at your leisure for GBP2.99 (approximately USD$5.30/4.41 Euro). Additionally, fans can watch all the pre-event testing, driver interviews and qualifying sessions live in the build up to the big race, the first of several GP Masters events through 2006.
