WEGENER Showcases Interoperability With Leading MPEG-4 Encoder Manufacturers

DULUTH, Ga., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR), a leading provider of television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, will showcase interoperability with leading AVC MPEG-4 encoders at TelcoTV 2005 Conference & Expo, November 8-10 at the San Diego Convention Center.

The MPEG-4 advanced video compression scheme is an important technology tool telco operators will use to launch video service offerings to subscribers. The TelcoTV demonstration will use WEGENER IP set tops to decode both SD and HD video from real and non-real-time AVC MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 video encoders.

"We are ready to play our role in this drive for interoperability," stated Ned Mountain, COO of WEGENER. "The AVC MPEG-4 standard has reached industry acceptance and as an industry we need to ensure that this new technology works seamlessly between encoder and decoder hardware manufacturers. WEGENER is committed to work with our encoder technology partners to facilitate the rapid availability of HD and SD solutions."

WEGENER's streaming media decoder, SMD-515, supports MPEG-4/h.264 and MPEG-2 decoding. The IP set top fully supports both SD and HD video, optional PVR and rapid integration of 3rd party applications. WEGENER is exhibiting in booth 101 at TelcoTV Conference and Expo 2005.
