Sam Goody Launches First National Reactrix Retail Media Network
Digital Entertainment Advertisers Will Leverage New Out-of-Home Reactive Media Network at Sam Goody Locations this Holiday Shopping Season
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. and MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Reactrix Media Systems, a pioneering developer of reactive out-of-home media for dynamic advertising, and Musicland Group Inc., a leading national entertainment retailer, today announced that Sam Goody will be the first retailer to broadly deploy a national Reactrix media network.
During the next several months, Musicland will debut the Reactrix media network in 100 Sam Goody stores located primarily in shopping malls in key markets throughout the U.S. Placed at the front entrance of most Sam Goody stores, the networked media displays will be used to draw mall shoppers into the store and drive advertising sales, while increasing the frequency of visits, dwell time and in-store sales.
Reactrix's breakthrough visioning technology actually "sees" and responds to consumers' movements as they interact with the programmed media content. Reactrix media mimics video games, the form of entertainment preferred by 12 to 24-year-old consumers, Sam Goody's core target buying audience. Reactrix is attacking a hard problem faced by advertisers today: how to market to a consumer audience that goes out of its way to avoid advertising.
"We have just two and a half seconds to catch someone's eye and draw them across the lease line and into our stores," Musicland Senior Vice President of Corporate Development Rob Willey said. "Unlike traditional television, the advertising is the entertainment. We are offering spots to advertisers who want to reach Sam Goody's core demographic -- 12 - 24-year-old entertainment enthusiasts."
"Sam Goody's target customers, the millenials, are especially adept at tuning out traditional advertising messages," Reactrix CEO Mike Ribero said. "It's nearly impossible to reach them except at places that they hang out, like Sam Goody."
When stepped on or passed over, the advertising changes and responds to consumers' movements and gestures, giving advertisers the ability to connect and measure effectiveness like no other in-home or out-of-home media. Based on third-party research studies, 70 percent of shoppers polled had a highly-positive experience with Reactrix in malls. Among those surveyed, 24 percent said they would seek out retail environments with Reactrix, and more than 60 percent told others to come see Reactrix.
Ribero added, "Our reactive media is proven to drive extraordinarily high brand recall, to make people feel good about the brands being advertised, to intensely engage shoppers for long periods of time and to increase impulse purchase behavior in retail locations. The new Sam Goody Reactrix media network is especially appealing to entertainment brands seeking a big in-store marketing splash for their latest entertainment offerings this holiday season."
