Queens of the Stone Age to Perform on the Tonight Show With ZZ Top's Billy F Gibbons
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the end of their national tour with Nine Inch Nails, the Queens Of The Stone Age will perform on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday, November 28th, joined by ZZ Top member and bearded guitar legend Billy F Gibbons for a live performance of their latest single, "Burn The Witch."
According to Queens front man Josh Homme, the pairing of the two musical heavyweights was a natural fit. "When Billy came in to play guitar and sing on 'Burn The Witch' during the recording of Lullabies To Paralyze, we were blown off. Everything he did was spot on -- even getting his beard stuck in his guitar's strings sounded great. We liked the sound of that so much, we recorded it," he says. "We're really excited to have him join us on stage this time around."
Fans looking for live renditions of their favorite Queens songs needn't wait until the 28th to get their fix, however. On November 22nd, the band will release its first-ever live CD/DVD Over The Years and Through The Woods. The 14-track CD is live and loud from a London concert during their sold-out UK tour last summer. Also included in the two-for package will be a DVD featuring over 3 hours of live, rare and acoustic performances of classic Queens of the Stone Age songs as well as behind the scenes footage of the band with pals Dave Grohl, Mark Lanagan and Billy F Gibbons. On the online front, Apple's iTUNES store is now offering exclusive Queens Of The Stone Age video bundles featuring live versions of "Burn The Witch" and "No One Knows" and a preview of Over The Years and Through The Woods. Also available for mass consumption are video downloads for "Burn The Witch" which includes a remix by UNKLE and a remix of "Broken Box" by Peaches. And, just because the Queens are cool like that, podcasts of their most recent renegade shows at various small clubs, record stores, and "weird ass venues" will be available for free every week via iTUNES' downloadable podcast site.
With the Queens of the Stone Age national tour with Nine Inch Nails wrapping up in Oaklandon November 19, Homme will be keeping plenty busy through the new year with his other projects the Eagles of Death Metal and the Desert Sessions.
Amongst the musicians who are rumored to join Homme at his fabled Rancho De La Luna studio in Joshua Tree, California for a Desert Session are Peaches, Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters and two gentlemen who Homme describes as "two brothers from the desert who nobody has any idea about." We'll keep you posted.
As for the Eagles, they've recently finished up their latest Death By Sexy LP and will be hitting the road in early '06.
And there you are folks, the facts, the rumors and the most up to the minute happenings on Queens. This should keep you busy (and entertained) for a while, no? That's just the kind of guy that Homme is...
