More Changes at KARE 11
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Ken Barlow, KARE 11 News weather anchor, announced today that he will leave KARE to take a position at WBZ-TV in Boston. Barlow is from nearby Providence, Rhode Island and expressed a desire to return to his home region.
"My time at KARE has been fantastic and the only thing that could draw me away is the chance to move back to my family and the area where I grew up," said Barlow. "But the people at KARE and our viewers are family too and that made the decision even tougher. As I look back, I value every day I worked at KARE, and I'm thankful I had the chance to raise my kids in this wonderful area."
Barlow has been at KARE 11 since 1990. His announcement comes just two days after KARE 11 News anchor Frank Vascellaro also decided to leave KARE.
"These guys have given a lot to KARE and to this community," said KARE 11 president and general manager John Remes. "Both are universally liked and respected here. We wish them the very best."
KARE 11's Belinda Jensen will assume the primary meteorologist role and continue as co-anchor of KARE 11 News Saturday, a morning news show.
"Ken's leaving is offset by having someone like Belinda on our staff," said Remes. "We have long felt that we have an extraordinary weather team and that depth is going to benefit KARE 11 viewers."
Barlow will continue at KARE 11 until December 20th.
