Peer Impact Becomes More Than Just Music With Today's Release of Version 2.0, the First Legitimate Multi-Media P2P Network
- Members Are Now Able to Share Music and Video Game Content Legally on the Service While Utilizing a Social Network to Make Media Fun -
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Peer Impact today announced the launch of version 2.0 of the peer-to-peer service which moves its application into a class of its own. This announcement makes Peer Impact the first legitimate peer-to-peer to offer multiple media types for legal, licensed file sharing over its secure network.
This newest version of the application boosts Peer Impact's catalog of 1.5 million music tracks and 10,000 Internet radio stations with the introduction of over 1000 video games from some of the industry's leading game publishers, all available in a "try before you buy" format. This format allows members to download the complete video game file and play it for a finite period of time. Peer Impact's technology can distribute massive files, such as video games, at high speed with the help of other members on the network who are rewarded with cash toward future purchases for every bit and byte they deliver. In addition, members can earn cash for inviting friends to join the network, pre-loading their account using a credit card, and by promoting the sale of content.
Building off of member feedback, Peer Impact 2.0 introduces the addition of video games, along with a whole new look and improved search/browse functionality. The company says that the 2.0 update offers a number of innovative features and enhancements including; new ways to communicate with other members, additional opportunities for members to increase their cash earnings, lyric search, and private messaging to other peers.
"Peer Impact incorporates a social network into the DNA of a high-speed peer-to-peer technology as the consumer is empowered to communicate and share large files on this first legitimate digital distribution network," said Gregory Kerber, Chairman and CEO of the company that created Peer Impact. "Music is an important component of our business but it is only a piece of the entertainment industry. Consumers demand more and we will be the single point of supply to meet their entertainment and media demands. Along with offering our members an array of multi-media content, we broaden their earning potential by making larger files available for them to share. A percentage of a $.99 song is nice, but a percentage of a $19.99 video game is even better."
The company says that additional announcements demonstrating the growth of the network's offerings are in the works.
