New Study of Sexual Content on TV to Be Released by the Kaiser Family Foundation
Amid the ongoing concern about teen sexual activity and the debate about broadcast indecency, the Kaiser Family Foundation will release a new study about the sexual content on TV and host a roundtable discussion featuring top TV executives, federal regulators, adolescent health experts, and Hollywood writers on Wednesday, November 9, in Washington, D.C.
Senator Barack Obama will give a keynote speech to kick-off the panel discussion.
What: The release of "Sex on TV 4," a biennial study of the amount and nature of sexual content on television and a panel discussion on teens, sex, and TV. The presentation and panel will explore issues such as:
-- What percentage of shows include sexual content?
-- What proportion of shows include a reference to safer sex or the risks
and responsibilities of sexual activity?
-- How do shows popular with teens compare to other shows?
-- How has TV's depiction of sex changed over the past seven years?
Who: Drew Altman, Kaiser President and CEO will discus the implications of the findings and Vicky Rideout, who oversaw the study and is a Kaiser Vice President will present the detailed findings, followed by a discussion moderated by Jackie Judd, a Kaiser Vice President, featuring:
