Frederick Morton Named Senior Vice President and General Manager of TEMPO
MTV Network's Newest Cable Channel Devoted to Caribbean Music and Culture
NEW YORK, Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Frederick Morton has been named Senior Vice President and General Manager of TEMPO, it was announced today by Tom Calderone, Executive Vice President and General Manager, VH1, to whom he will report.
TEMPO, MTV Network's newest channel devoted to the thriving Caribbean music and culture, was developed and championed by Morton, who worked across all MTV Networks' business units to make the Network a reality. TEMPO will be the bridge to this culturally rich and trendsetting community.
Prior to joining TEMPO, Morton was Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs for MTV Networks, a division of Viacom Inc. In this role, Frederick was responsible for managing and handling a variety of litigations for the company. Additionally, Frederick administered MTV Networks' expansive intellectual property portfolio, both domestically and internationally and the review and clearance of MTVN programming content for legal issues prior to broadcast. He was Corporate Counsel for Johnson & Johnson before joining the prestigious law firm Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett, where he represented Fortune 500 companies.

A graduate of Rutgers University School of Law in 1993, Frederick also holds a Masters in Public Administration from Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs. Morton served as the President of the West Indian Student Organization at Rutgers University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Earlier this year, Morton received the prestigious Vice Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Caribbean from the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies.
Frederick was born and raised in St. Croix, the United States Virgin Islands to Nevisian parents.
