Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Season One
Classic Chills, Thrills and A Star-Studded Cast
All 39 Captivating Episodes From Season One Plus Exclusive Extras Arrive on DVD October 4, 2005 From Universal Studios Home Entertainment
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Hollywood's celebrated "master of suspense" who is hailed as "the greatest director of all time" by Entertainment Weekly, Alfred Hitchcock returns with an anthology of his Emmy(R) Award-winning twisted mysteries in "Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Season One," arriving on October 4, 2005 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The specially packaged three-DVD set features all 39 gripping episodes from the show's legendary first season, hosted by Hitchcock himself and starring a dazzling array of Hollywood's greatest actors. Scary, funny and suspenseful in equal parts, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Season One" includes extensive bonus material including never-before-seen extras, in-depth interviews with Hitchcock intimates and documentary footage.
Controversial from the start, the show delighted audiences and deliberately tweaked network censors with the unexpected irony of its not-so-happy endings, in which the good often went unrewarded and the villains escaped unscathed. Then there was the perverse delight Hitchcock drew from mocking his unsuspecting sponsors..."Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Season One" offers 39 self-contained tales of suspenseful intrigue featuring the work of great stars including Robert Redford, Cloris Leachman, Charles Bronson, Claude Rains, Lorne Greene, Joanne Woodward, Vera Miles and Steve McQueen as well as directors including Robert Altman and Hitchcock himself. The series' deliciously eerie scripts are a combination of original stories and adaptations of works by leading writers of the time such as Alexander Woollcott, Hector Hugh Munro (aka Saki), John Cheever, Ray Bradbury, Roald Dahl and Robert Bloch. "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" earned a Golden Globe Award for Television Achievement as well as 15 Emmy nominations and three awards.

Synopsis
The simple words "Good evening" have never been the same since legendary film director Alfred Hitchcock took to the small screen as the host of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," an anthology of classic mystery and suspense stories. Each episode of the first season opens with Hitchcock's instantly recognizable silhouette and the show's creepily familiar theme song. The famously contrary host fills in the audience on a detail of the episode, while poking not so subtle fun at the show's advertisers. Elements of horror, comedy, suspense and things that go bump in the night, all seasoned with a trademark Hitchcock twist, distinguish the 30-minute stories. The three-disc Season One DVD collection includes the episode, "The Case of Mr. Pelham" for which director Hitchcock received an Emmy nomination. The star-studded cast of the first season includes appearances by Cloris Leachman, Charles Bronson, Claude Rains, Lorne Greene, Joanne Woodward, Vera Miles and many more.
