Wright Communications Finds Single-Source Microwave-Multiplex Radio Solution in Harris Corporation
New Hampshire Division of Forest and Lands Increases Reliability and Coverage With Harris' TRuepoint(TM) and Intraplex(R) Access Servers
CINCINNATI, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) announced today its collaboration with Wright Communications for the sale and installation of Harris' TRuepoint(TM) point-to-point digital communications platform and the Intraplex(R) Access Server for T-1-based multiplexing. The system utilizes collective expertise from Harris' Microwave Communications and Broadcast Communications divisions, and provides a single- vendor solution that addresses the New Hampshire Division of Forest and Lands' (DFL) voice and data transmission needs. As part of an upgrade from the DFL's current RF communications technology, the Harris system interfaces with the state's existing microwave system.
New Hampshire DFL controls 200,000 acres of state-owned land. Thirteen mountaintop repeaters will link local fire fighters, police officers and park rangers to provide a highly reliable voice and data network. Intraplex(R) will enable DFL dispatch to utilize the bandwidth of four T-1 lines and synchronize operations with the State's police headquarters. The TRuepoint(TM) platform will allow access to the existing statewide microwave network, enabling DFL dispatchers to better pinpoint the location of each field unit, resulting in more efficient emergency response and increased ranger safety.
"The system that Harris is providing to the DFL exemplifies the progressive tactical support and communications infrastructure that we frequently deploy," said Jim Denny, vice president and general manager of Harris Broadcast Communications' Networking Solutions business unit. "The benefits of the new system will be noticeable in both daily communications and during a crisis when the mobilization of emergency response is most critical."
"Harris' comprehensive offering will significantly extend the value and capabilities of New Hampshire's DFL communication network," said Alan Topliff, owner of Wright Communications, Inc. "With this sale, Harris Corporation confirms its reputation as a one-stop provider of mission-critical communications technology and its commitment to world-class service and support."
TRuepoint's flexible and scalable platform allows for increased bandwidth needs to be met within the DFL network while keeping costs low. TRuepoint(TM) provides state and local agencies with a system that meets current requirements and then easily adapts or expands their networks to accommodate new applications or growth -- a feature that may not have been affordable with a less flexible system. The combination of Intraplex(R) and TRuepoint(TM) provides a highly reliable, cost-efficient, single-vendor solution.
"Harris and Wright Communications are a formidable team, with Wright delivering localized onsite service and Harris delivering a complete solution," said Jayne Leighton, North America vice president of sales and services for Harris Microwave Communications Division. "Harris' microwave and networking products are designed to seamlessly work together to provide the highest quality service on the market."
About Intraplex(R) Access Server
