NEW YORK, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Regis Philbin has signed on as National Spokesperson for the America On the Move (AOM) Day of Action and will serve as Master-of-Ceremonies for the AOM's Red Carpet event in New York City, September 28, 2005. "I look forward to joining thousands of Americans in celebration of the day and hosting AOM's Day of Action Red Carpet event in New York City. I hope you'll join me and step out on the Red Carpet Route that will wind through midtown Manhattan on September 28th," said Regis.
AOM's Day of Action is designed to encourage all Americans to take a Pledge to commit -- just for one day -- to make 2 small changes that can enhance overall health and prevent weight gain -- walk an extra 2000 steps and choose a smart way to eat 100 fewer calories each day. Anyone can take the AOM Day of Action pledge online at www.americaonthemove.org or by calling 1-800-807-0077 through September 28. All pledge participants (18 and older) will be eligible to win some great prizes. AOM is proud to have Smart Spot from PepsiCo as their National Presenting Sponsor. The Smart Spot symbol (on over 100 PepsiCo food and beverage choices) is an easy way for you to identify better choices that contribute to a healthier lifestyle for you and your family.
The national Day of Action event festivities will kick-off at 11:30 at Columbus Circle. The Red Carpet route will follow Central Park South to Fifth Avenue to Trump Tower where Regis, Donald Trump and AOM leaders will host the press. Fun, interactive event stations all along the route will offer participants healthy Smart Spot snacks and beverages, event registration to receive a free pedometer and be entered into the event drawing for a chance to win fun event prizes including tickets for 2 to Major League Baseball's 2006 All-Star Game Weekend Event, Day of Action T-shirts, hats and more. Free health screenings will be available and Discovery Health Channel's "Total Family Health Tour" will be onsite to invite participants into a 53 foot custom designed Big Rig to interact with trained "Total Health Advisors" and enjoy interactive demonstrations.
In addition to the national event in New York City, AOM Affiliates across the country and thousands of employer groups, schools, communities and other organizations will be holding America On the Move Day of Action events.
