Peer Impact Adds IODA Content to its P2P Service

Peer Impact Adds IODA Content to its P2P Service

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Wurld Media announced today that it has signed an agreement with the Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA), a leading aggregator of music from independent labels and artists, to offer IODA's content on its legal peer-to-peer (P2P) network, Peer Impact(TM).

IODA provides digital distribution services to independent labels, distributors, and artists, negotiating licensing agreements with digital music services on their behalf. IODA represents more than 125,000 tracks from over 700 independent labels, including music from artists such as Billie Holliday, George Clinton, KRS-One, Duke Ellington, My Morning Jacket, John Lee Hooker, Sean Paul, The Hives, Built to Spill, Charlie Parker, They Might Be Giants, and Fela Kuti.

"IODA is very excited to bring its catalog of music to the new generation of legal peer-to-peer music services," said Kevin Arnold, Founder and CEO of IODA. "We believe that legal P2P distribution systems have the potential to create some great, innovative ways to encourage discovery of independent music, and Peer Impact is leading the way with their unique cash back incentive program."

Peer Impact, which already offers protected content from all four major music labels, announced last month that it would begin offering MP3s from leading independent music labels. That announcement coupled with the agreement with IODA will add more than 320,000 tracks in MP3 format to Peer Impact.

"We realized when we created Peer Impact that one of the main challenges in moving consumers to use legitimate P2P networks was the need to offer an abundance of content," said Gregory Kerber, Chairman and CEO of Wurld Media. "With the addition of over 320,000 new tracks in the last few weeks and agreements with all four major music labels, Peer Impact is rapidly setting the standard in the P2P business."

Peer Impact features unique technology that allows members to earn cash back for acting as "paid redistributors" of content purchased over the network. Users simply leave their computers on, and if they are selected as a source of fulfillment for purchases over the network, they receive credit towards future purchases though Peer Impact. According to Kerber, "As Peer Impact makes more and more content available, the opportunities for our members to receive concrete benefits for using the service increase."
