Live Music Festival to Rock Akron's Downtown Aug. 28

AKRON, Ohio, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- From 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, Akron's Main Street will rock to the live sounds of 38 bands competing at eight locations when the Enjoy Live Music Festival debuts downtown. The Akron Beacon Journal and Ohio.com, presenting sponsors, founded the event to showcase Akron's music scene and to create more awareness of downtown as a great destination for fun, said event organizers.

Bands will play 45-minute sets at their assigned location with 15-minute breaks between bands. Eight categories of music will be performed at the following venues: acoustic bands at Brubaker's Pub, Christian bands at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, country and blues bands at Whiskey Ranch, DJ/alternative at Posh Bistro, jam bands at Mad Dax Pub and Niteclub, modern rock at Jillian's, punk/metal at AMP and rock-n-roll bands at Panini's Bar and Grill. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite band in each category.

In addition to the inside battle of the bands, the Enjoy Live Music Festival will feature an outdoor street-fair atmosphere, including food and concession vendors, a jousting ring, street performers and more.

Admission to the performance venues is by wristband. Cost is $8/wristband and gives access to all venues, all day. Wristbands are for sale at all participating venues, the Akron Beacon Journal Public Service Counter and at participating Papa John's locations. On the day of the event, wristbands will be for sale at all performance venues and the Akron Beacon Journal information booth.
