Kiefer Sutherland to Narrate THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK, Discovery Channel's Comprehensive Account of United Airlines Flight 93 on 9/11

SILVER SPRING, Md., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Golden Globe Award-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland ("24") will narrate THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK, Discovery Channel's special tribute film that chronicles the heroism of the 33 passengers and seven crew members on United Airlines Flight 93, which was hijacked, rerouted toward Washington, D.C., and crashed in Somerset County, Pa., on September 11, 2001. The special will premiere Sunday, September 11, 2005, at 9 PM (ET/PT).

Using in-depth research and unparalleled access to families and friends of the passengers and crew, THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK retells the plane's final moments as those on board fought to regain control of the aircraft. The dramatic documentary includes rarely heard voice recordings and the personal reflections of family and friends, and details how 40 strangers discovered the terrorists' scheme, devised a plan to respond and stopped the deadly plot -- all in just 30 minutes.

Kiefer Sutherland, with a film career spanning more than two decades, has received critical acclaim for his TV character, crime-fighting Counter Terrorist Unit field agent Jack Bauer, in the taut Emmy(R) Award-winning drama series "24." The acclaimed action-drama enters its fifth season in January. Sutherland has won both a Golden Globe and SAG Award for his portrayal, and has been nominated for multiple Emmys.

The son of famed movie actor Donald Sutherland and stage actress Shirley Douglas, Sutherland first became widely known to American audiences for his role as a bully in "Stand By Me," and subsequently has starred in such hit films as "Flatliners," "The Lost Boys," "The Three Musketeers," "A Time to Kill," "Dark City," "The Vanishing" and "A Few Good Men." His most recent films include "Taking Lives" with Angelina Jolie and "Phone Booth" with Colin Farrell. Next, he will be seen in the spy thriller "The Sentinel," based on the novel by former Secret Service agent Gerald Petievich, and starring Kim Basinger and Michael Douglas. In addition, he will be heard in the Walt Disney animated film "The Wild," alongside Janeane Garofalo and Jim Belushi. His other recent credits include narrating 2004's "NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience."
