Cingular Sounds is an innovative music program that launches new singles as ringtones on wireless phones either before or simultaneous with their radio debut. Foo Fighters track "D.O.A" is currently available as a Cingular Music Tone before it airs nationally on radio on August 22.
"We are thrilled that the Foo Fighters have chosen the Cingular Sounds program to introduce their diverse mix of rock and acoustic tracks to a broader audience -- 51 million Cingular customers," said John Burbank, vice president of marketing, Cingular Wireless. "Now Foo Fighters fans can pick the Music Tone that best fits their mood and expresses their unique, wireless lifestyle."
"RCA is excited to debut the Foo Fighter's next single as a Music Tone," commented Aaron Borns, vice president of marketing for RCA. "The Cingular Sounds program is a unique opportunity to pick up buzz on 'D.O.A.' as we approach our radio impact date." In addition to the pre-radio release of "D.O.A," Cingular customers also have access to six other cuts from their catalog, including classics "Everlong" and "Learn To Fly," as well as the hot new single, "Best of You." For the last seven weeks, "Best of You" has been No. 1 on both the Billboard Modern Rock and Billboard Mainstream Rock charts. In fact, "Best of You" is currently nominated for two MTV Video Music awards including Best Rock Video.
