Fewer Commercials, Positive News - A Recipe for Failure or an Idea Whose Time Has Come?

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert Herring, Sr. has invested tens of millions of dollars in a new television network - WealthTV - that features only positive family values. But Herring is not a member of any organized religion, nor is he trying to further a political agenda, so why is he doing this?

"Television today is bombarding the viewer with scandals, husbands killing their pregnant wives, the intimate details of celebrities, and what is being described as emotional pornography - a parade of grieving and heartbroken parents and spouses being asked how they feel about the tragedy that has befallen them. Even more concerning is how television seems intent on expanding on this daily diet of explicit sex, and the fake wrestling with its blood and violence. Some shows feature humanity at its lowest like Jerry Springer and company. To add to this mindless clutter today's news shows have become so biased that it should be called brainwashing rather than news," says Herring.

Does this mean by contrast that a network that will not show all of the above is boring? Herring's answer is a definite NO!

WealthTV is offered in standard and high definition so that the pictures are brilliant, and the content of the programs is positive. Another big difference for the viewer is that WealthTV only shows 10 minutes per hour of commercials compared to as many as 17 minutes on other channels.

Herring says that "our first goal is to stimulate people's minds and show them the better things in life. We have shows on stem cells that are showing the cutting edge of what is being discovered to help people and save lives. We show people who have had remarkable recoveries, but we leave it to the viewer to decide if it was a miracle or medicine. We are working on the Terri Schiavo story because we believe that the true and full story has not been told. We will make available all of the un-edited interviews that we taped and show them on our VOD (video-on-demand) platform. This is a first for a network, and I believe it will give the audience a chance to check and see if we got the story right, or did we edit it with a bias - I want the viewers to tell me."

WealthTV has a wide variety of programs that have a broad appeal, from serious subjects like stem cells and Terri Schiavo, to programs on cars, exotic destinations - even a series on etiquette that shows people some of the basics of what to wear and what is appropriate at social events and in everyday life.

The Network has gained a cult-like following amongst its viewers who have access to see the channel. So far some 30 television distribution companies have agreed to carry WealthTV.

"However, many of the larger cable distributors are saving their channel space for new Sports, Gay, Foreign Language, Pornographic, or Shopping Channels. Conversely, the large telephone companies like Verizon and others have either signed or have deals pending with WealthTV; these companies seem to be taking a different view and are looking for a point of differentiation, and for unique programming that is family-friendly," Herring states.

Robert Herring is investing tens of millions of dollars so that you can watch positive family programs. "If you believe that it is time for this positive choice then call your cable, satellite, or telephone company and ask them to carry WealthTV," Herring concludes.

Herring is redefining wealth as an abundance of good; he is banking that viewers are ready for a positive change.
