Encore Westerns Nabs a 'Golden Boot'

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Encore Westerns channel took home a "Golden Boot" at the 23rd Annual Golden Boot Awards ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The award was accepted by Jeff Hildebrandt, managing producer of Encore Westerns channel, which he has produced since the channel launched in 1994. The Encore Westerns original documentary "Sam Peckinpah's West: Legacy of a Hollywood Renegade" was also nominated for a "Best of the West" Award.

On receiving the "Golden Boot," Hildebrandt addressed the crowd of past and present Western stars, writers, producers and directors, "You showed us a Cowboy with dignity and grace. A Cowboy we looked up to as kids. A Cowboy whose values we hold onto as adults. You created the legend. All of us at Encore Westerns are honored to play a part in keeping that legend alive."

The Golden Boot Awards relives the glory of the old West as awards are presented for the development and preservation of the Western tradition in film and television.

Proceeds from The Golden Boot Awards go to The Motion Picture & Television Fund, a service organization that provides health care, child care and social and charitable services, in addition to retirement care. The service is available to anyone who has worked in the entertainment business for 20 eligible years, whether in front of or behind the camera.
