Comcast Launches 'ON DEMAND' Service

Comcast Launches 'ON DEMAND' Service

SPOKANE, Wash., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Comcast, the nation's leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services, expects to launch its ON DEMAND video-on-demand (VOD) service on Tuesday, giving Spokane customers the opportunity to select from more than 3,000 programs from leading cable networks, including HBO, Outdoor Life Network, Showtime, and Starz!, and watch them anytime they want.

ON DEMAND offers Comcast Digital Cable customers more control than ever before, with the ability to choose from movies, music, sports, news, instructional and entertainment programming and more. In addition, viewers can rewind, fast forward and pause programs, and can store most selections for up to 24 hours from the time of ordering, so they can watch shows whenever and however often they like. An interactive, on-screen programming guide makes selecting from the library of ON DEMAND content quick and easy.

"Comcast is committed to bringing our customers more and better choices for in-home entertainment," said Kenneth G. Watts, Comcast general manager. "It's a whole new way to watch TV -- now customers' favorite shows will follow their schedules."

The vast majority of ON DEMAND programming -- including shows from popular networks like BBC America, Comedy Central, CNN, Cartoon Network, Court TV, Discovery Networks, E!, G4, Outdoor Life Network, Style, Sundance, Anime Network, PBS KIDS Sprout, TV One and National Geographic -- is available at no additional charge over the cost of Comcast Digital Cable service. Comcast is working to include locally produced content after the launch. For customers who subscribe to premium channels, programming from Cinemax, HBO, Showtime, Starz! and TMC is also available on demand at no additional charge. New release movies are available for $3.99 each and library titles for $2.99.
