Cedar Point Adds Three New Cable System Operators to Its Customer Portfolio In Latin America
DERRY, N.H., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Cedar Point Communications, Inc., the leader in integrated packet-based voice switching technologies for the cable industry, today announced agreements with three Colombian cable system operators for the deployment of Cedar Point's SAFARI C(Cubed) Media Switching System for the delivery of cable telephony services.
The agreements, which were negotiated jointly among Cedar Point and the three systems, provide for the utilization of SAFARI C(Cubed) units with TV Cable in Bogota, with Promision in Bucaramanga and with Costavision in Cartagena. The systems are leaders in deploying bi-direction services in Colombia, and collectively pass more than one million homes.
"Our companies considered a number of operational and geographic challenges in choosing a common voice vendor," said Jorge Rangel, general manager of Promision. "A significant part of the reason for choosing Cedar Point was the ease of installation and operational simplicity of SAFARI C(Cubed)'s integrated design."
"A critical question was the choice between a first-generation softswitch that would service all three systems, or separate SAFARI units for each of our companies," said Alfonso Pereira del Rio, general manager of Costavision. "In all of our due diligence, the simpler SAFARI C(Cubed) option was considerably less expensive than a distributed voice-over-IP architecture."
"Cedar Point was able to offer us a solution that fit each of our needs," said Roy Burstin, president of TV Cable. "SAFARI C(Cubed) has the simplicity, the cost-effectiveness and the upward and downward scalability we need to make the deployment of telephone services an operational and financial success."
"TV Cable, Promision and Costavision have been among the most aggressive in Latin America in installing the infrastructure necessary to deploy new services, such as voice," said George Kassas, founder and executive vice president, business development for Cedar Point Communications. "We're pleased that all three operators have recognized the advantages of SAFARI C(Cubed)'s integrated design, and we look forward to working with them to quickly and competitively provide high-quality, highly reliable voice services to their subscribers."
SAFARI C(Cubed) is the only totally integrated carrier class VoIP switch that incorporates -- at no additional cost -- all of the components that make up the PacketCable(TM) voice switching infrastructure, eliminating the need for operators to purchase, maintain, upgrade and regression test separate Call Management Servers, Media Gateways, Record Keeping Servers, Announcement Servers, Signaling Gateways, Ethernet Switches and CALEA servers.
Designed to accommodate not only current voice switching needs but also the anticipated migration to video telephony and multimedia services, the PacketCable(TM)-qualified SAFARI C(Cubed) provides superior performance and reliability, significantly reducing capital expenditures, system integration and operations costs for cable operators offering telephony services while increasing network integrity, security and privacy.
