Baseball Proves That It Is Still America's Favorite Pastime

New York Yankees Top Major League Baseball Ticket Sales According to the July TicketsNow Entertainment Index

CHICAGO, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The weather and your Weber grill aren't the only things heating up this summer. With less than two months remaining in the baseball season, the New York Yankees claimed the top spot on the chart for overall hottest tickets sold on the secondary market, according to the TicketsNow Entertainment Index for July. The Bronx Bombers outranked the perennially popular Chicago Cubs and World Champion Boston Red Sox.

TicketsNow.com, the world's largest and most trusted online marketplace for secondary event tickets, also saw the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and St. Louis Cardinals jump into the top fifth and sixth spots, respectively, in overall sales-pushing the Baltimore Orioles out of the top 10.

For the seventh-consecutive month, Wicked held on to the top spot for theater tickets, making it the fourth most-popular event overall. Wicked ticket sales accounted for a third of all theater sales in July and were double those of its closest competitor, The Lion King.

Overwhelming demand for Rolling Stones tickets continued to keep the classic rockers at the top of the concerts chart, with Dave Matthews and U2 not too far behind. And with the launch of their 2005 tours approaching, Eminem and Green Day tied for the number five spot for top concert ticket sales.
