Digital World Services (DWS) Powers Live8 Music Download for AOL and Musicload
LONDON, July 1/PRNewswire/ --
- Live Recordings From Live8 Concerts Available on DWS ADORA Music
Download Platform Used by AOL Germany and Musicload
DWS, the Swiss-based content distribution and content download
technology provider, and European market leader, is involved in Live8, the
biggest music event in history. Leading record label, Universal Music, will
record and encode the tracks of its artists performing at Live8 on July 2nd
on various stages around the world. DWS will make these tracks immediately
available for download onto its customers' music download service portals.
Based on the DWS FAST TRACK importing process, which injects
content into the DWS ADORA Content Download platform, tracks will be
available for real-time download on AOL's Music Download Service site in
Germany and T-Online's music download portal Musicload. Both music services
are using DWS ADORA, hosted by DWS's ASP Partner, Siemens.
The Live8, "Live to Download" concert recordings will be the
world's fastest conversion of live performed music, as an online download
offer. This will enable consumers to own live music immediately after it has
been uniquely performed for the first time, thus inventing a new paradigm for
event-based music distribution.
Michael Bornhäusser, CEO of Digital World Services stated
today, "Live8 is the ideal event to introduce DWS' ADORA platform
capabilities to consumers. Users will be able to download live tracks almost
immediately after hearing them. Our customer AOL, as the world wide online
partner of Live8, is already providing bundles of tracks based on the concert
schedule on our platform, and we expect our "Live to Download" service to
complement this offering. We expect one million downloads in the next few
days based on Live8", concluded Bornhäusser.
DWS ADORA is the only content delivery platform to offer
injection times of these speeds. The multi-DRM and multi-channel software
platform is used by digital online and mobile distributors such as T-Online
with its affiliates Coca Cola, RTL, World of Music and others; AOL, O2, SFR
and carriers in North America and in the Asian Pacific region. DWS is the
market leading technology provider for music download platforms in Europe
with an overall volume of 15 million transactions in recent months.
DWS partners with market leading ASP-partners, including
Siemens and Musiwave and is offering DWS products on a global base.
