SHARKS, A Breathtaking Experience Presented by Jean-Michel Cousteau, Premieres June 27 at the Milwaukee Public Museum's Humphrey IMAX Dome Theater

Presented for the Very First Time in Wisconsin, SHARKS Creates Major Waves in Milwaukee. Come Closer Than You've Ever Dared to One of Nature's Most Sophisticated Yet Endangered Predators. Witness Feeding Frenzies, Swim With the Biggest Fish on Earth and Overcome Your Deepest Fears as You Encounter a Great White Shark.

MILWAUKEE, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Milwaukee Public Museum, Jean-Michel Cousteau and 3D Entertainment Ltd., in collaboration with the United Nations for Environment Programme, invite audiences to a stunning immersive diving experience with SHARKS, premiering Monday, June 27th at the Humphrey IMAX Dome Theater. Join an expert team of ocean explorers on this unique round-the-globe expedition documenting the life of the ultimate predator.

The media are invited to attend a special screening of SHARKS at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21st. Film ambassador Jean-Michel Cousteau, director Jean-Jacques Mantello and director of photography Gavin McKinney are available for telephone interviews. To download high-resolution images from the film, please refer to the PDF document available at http://www.sharksfilm.com/others/thumbnails.pdf

The Humphrey IMAX Dome Theater brings SHARKS to life in grand fashion, offering a unique experience from each of its 275 stadium-style seats with high-definition images projected onto the huge 60-ft spherical screen and 12,000 watts of pure digital surround sound. The Milwaukee Public Museum is located at 800 West Wells Street. IMAX tickets are $8 for adults (16-61), $7 for seniors (62 plus) and $6.50 for children (3-15). "I am very pleased that Milwaukee residents will now get the chance to share in this truly memorable encounter with the world's great shark species, such as the Great White, Whale Shark and Hammerhead," said Jean-Michel Cousteau. "Watching SHARKS is like pulling on a diving suit and swimming weightlessly with sharks all around. If you've ever wanted to know what it's really like to dive with sharks, this film is certainly a must-see. You can witness them as they truly are in their natural habitat -- not wicked man-eating creatures, as they are far too frequently depicted in modern feature films, but wild, fascinating and highly endangered animals that have been in existence since a million years before the dinosaurs."

"Despite the existence of various international treaties, certain shark species have been reduced by nearly 80% in the past decade alone. Today, the priority is not only to end the steady decline of the shark population, but to rehabilitate its image among the general public," said the United Nations Environment Programme's Executive Director, Klaus Toepfer.

For the director of SHARKS, Jean-Jacques Mantello, "the film's purpose is to lead people to think differently and positively about sharks. As many fellow conservationists have stated before, we protect only what we love. Therefore, we first need to understand what sharks are really like before there can be a change in public perception. Then perhaps we will begin to protect them."

"We are thrilled that Milwaukee will be the very first to present SHARKS in a tailor-made version for IMAX Dome theaters," said Jeffery Bass, VP of education, public programming and IMAX at the Milwaukee Public Museum. "Underwater films work very well on dome screens, so this will allow guests to enter the breathtaking underwater environments of these magnificent creatures."

Principal photography on SHARKS required an extensive nine-month shoot totaling 500 dive hours. The film was shot on location in Guadalupe Island, Revillagigedo Archipelago and the Sea of Cortez (Mexico), Malpelo Island (Colombia), the Red Sea (Egypt), Sodwana Bay (South Africa), Mozambique Channel (Mozambique), San Diego (USA) and Rangiroa Atoll (French Polynesia).

Film highlights include an astonishing up-close encounter with the king of the ocean, the Great White Shark, a procession of Scalloped Hammerheads, the Large Tooth Sawfish, the Sand Tiger Shark, and the Whale Shark. Watch a shimmering school of sardines dodge as a single, coordinated mass to confuse prowling sharks, and meet other amazing ocean life, among them jellyfish, dolphins, sea lions and turtles, and learn how they survive among the sharks.

SHARKS is produced by 3D Entertainment and McKinney Underwater Productions Inc. Directed by Jean-Jacques Mantello, filmed by Gavin McKinney and executive produced by Francois Mantello. SHARKS features an original score composed by Christophe Jacquelin and performed by the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, with an original song, "Still Be Blue."
