In-Room Entertainment Provider Announces New High Definition Welcome Channel With Customized Content for Hotels

DENVER, June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- On Command Video Corporation, a leading provider of in-room interactive entertainment for the hotel industry and its guests, announced today it will be presenting a new HD welcome channel concept for hotels at HITEC 2005 in Los Angeles.

The welcome channel is the first channel that appears when a guest powers on the in-room television. The channel is typically used for promoting entertainment services available from the video-on-demand system as well as hotel services available to the guest during their stay. The new channel is part of On Command's HD+ solution that provides full end-to-end high definition technology for the in-room entertainment system. The channel can be programmed to carry up to 24 hours of HD content.

"Greeting the guest in full high definition is putting your best view forward," said Tad Walden, senior vice president of marketing and programming for On Command. "In addition, the channel can be totally customized and have content that is unique to the hotel property. It can promote room service, VOD services or have high definition ambience video that creates the in-room experience and branding the hotel wants reflected in the room."

The channel is broadcast in 16:9 HD ratio and can contain text information in combination with high definition, standard definition or analog video elements.

On Command is exhibiting the new menu system at HITEC booth 518 June 21 through 23 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
