ESPN Star Sports Announces Key Management Appointment
SINGAPORE, May 12 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- ESPN STAR Sports, Asia's number one sports broadcaster today announced a new appointment to its management team with David Shin taking on the role of Senior Vice President, Commercial Development with immediate effect.

Shin will be based in Singapore with region-wide responsibility for developing new commercial initiatives for ESPN STAR Sports' networks across Asia. He will report directly to Rik Dovey, Managing Director, ESPN STAR Sports.
Shin brings over 13 years of international industry experience to the position, having held key senior appointments with leading media and technology companies, including the STAR Group.
He began his career in California, USA, working for PolyGram Film Entertainment and thereafter joined DIRECTV in the financial planning and business development areas before being appointed General Manager, Programming Finance for DIRECTV, Japan. Shin joined STAR, Hong Kong as Vice President, Business Development in 1999 where he oversaw business development activities for Hong Kong, Korea and the Philippines and spearheaded STAR's preparation into the India DTH market. In his most recent role as Chief Operating Officer for the Star Channel, Shin was responsible for spearheading major strategic initiatives aimed at improving the company's bottom line.

Shin holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the University of California and a post-graduate Fine Arts degree in Cinema-Television, also from the University of Southern California.
