Cedar Point Names TVC as Sales and Support Partner for Latin American Cable Market

Cedar Point Names TVC as Sales and Support Partner for Latin American Cable Market

DERRY, N.H. and MIAMI, May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Cedar Point Communications, Inc., the leader in integrated packet-based voice switching technologies for the cable industry, and TVC Communications today announced an agreement that combined Cedar Point's cable telephony technological leadership with TVC's expertise in the Latin American broadband market.

Under the agreement, part of a growing Cedar Point presence in the region, TVC will serve as a non-exclusive sales, customer financing, distribution and support arm for Cedar Point's integrated SAFARI C(Cubed) Media Switching System throughout Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Cedar Point already has announced deployments with Omnivision (Argentina), Cable Pacifico (Colombia), Grupo TVCable (Ecuador) and Cablemas (Mexico). In addition, SAFARI C(Cubed) handles all voice traffic for Liberty Cablevision of Puerto Rico, in conjunction with Net2Phone's hosted telephony system.

"The Latin American market represents a growth engine for Cedar Point Communications. We intend to lead the market with our SAFARI C(Cubed) voice and advanced broadband capabilities," said George Kassas, founder and executive vice president, business development for Cedar Point Communications. "TVC's outstanding reputation and proven capabilities will help us to reach out to, and follow through with, cable operators who recognize our leadership position and the value of our integrated solution."

"For the past several years our customers have been trying to deploy the costly and complex first-generation distributed voice-over-IP softswitch architectures with very little success," said Ken Olsen, president of TVC Latin America. "SAFARI C(Cubed) provides the simplicity and cost effectiveness cable operators need to accelerate time to market and deploy high-quality, highly-reliable voice services that will generate increased subscriber revenue."

SAFARI C(Cubed) is the only totally integrated carrier class VoIP switch that incorporates -- at no additional cost -- all of the components that make up the PacketCable(TM) voice switching infrastructure, eliminating the need for operators to purchase, maintain, upgrade and regression test separate Call Management Servers, Media Gateways, Record Keeping Servers, Announcement Servers, Signaling Gateways, Ethernet Switches and CALEA servers.

Designed to accommodate not only current voice switching needs but also the anticipated migration to video telephony and multimedia services, the PacketCable(TM)-qualified SAFARI C(Cubed) provides superior performance and reliability, significantly reducing capital expenditures, system integration and operations costs for cable operators offering telephony services while increasing network integrity, security and privacy.
