Industry Veterans Dr. Henry Gu and Glen Sakata Join Exavio - Company Positions for Global Growth
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Exavio, Inc., announced today the expansion of its management team with the appointments of two long time industry veterans. Dr. Henry Gu joins the company as Vice President of Product Marketing and Business Development and Glen Sakata assumes the post of Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Gu was most recently the Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer at da Vinci Systems, the leading manufacturer of color image enhancement and automatic film and video restoration systems. Sakata served as Vice President of Sales at Harmonic, a major supplier of integrated fiber optic transmission, digital headend, and element management systems for the interactive broadband networks.
Gu will help to develop and oversee the company's product marketing strategy and execution, application development and have a direct hand in its business development activities. Sakata will be responsible for worldwide sales, sales support and business development. This will include developing a sales infrastructure capable of supporting direct, OEM and future channel sales. Gu and Sakata will be responsible for developing and implementing plans to establish Exavio's ExaMax(R) 9000 network platform as the de-facto standard for networks to provide high quality digital media access and distribution throughout the broadcast and post production industries.
"We are very pleased to have Henry and Glen join Exavio as senior members of the management team," said Michael Moone, president and CEO of Exavio. "Their distinguished track record of successes in helping to drive companies to consistent financial growth combined with their over thirty years of sales, business marketing and technology expansion experience in the video related industries makes Henry and Glen the ideal people to help move us to the next stage of growth."
"The advent of HDTV and the continuing refinement and availability of high speed data/video processing and storage technologies have created a new price vs. technology paradigm for the video post production industry, once the lofty domain of high-end studios, now enabling a broader audience base to take advantage of the application benefits derived from the advances in digital processing, interconnect and storage technologies," noted Gu. "I look forward to leveraging my engineering, business development and technology marketing background in helping to establish Exavio's ExaMax 9000 network platform as the key enabling tool that will help bridge these disparate technologies and formats together, improving workflow efficiency and freeing users to focus more on the production of content rather than the post production process."
"Exavio is on the precipice of redefining the post production workflow paradigm with their ExaMax 9000 network platform," added Sakata. "My many years of experience in executive management coupled with my ability to develop and manage global sales programs that consistently gained sales traction for a variety of tier 1 video related companies will be a strong value-add in helping to establish this paradigm."
Dr. Henry Gu's stellar career in video image engineering and technology management spans more than seventeen years. A thirteen year veteran of da Vinci Systems, Gu quickly rose through the ranks from Group Leader and Senior Engineer to his most recent position as Vice President of Engineering and CTO. While there, he consistently surpassed the company's goals to develop cutting- edge market solutions for the video and film post production industries and was instrumental in many of da Vinci Systems' strategic acquisitions. As Principal Engineer at Bremson Data Systems, Gu managed the development and production of a video color analyzer for professional color and motion picture film printing as well as an image acquisition and processing system for Compact Disc-Interactive application. A holder of six patents, Gu is also the recipient an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development from The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Gu received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Nanjing Institute of Technology, China and his MS and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Glen Sakata is a highly successful sales and management executive with eighteen years of experience in the video broadcast and IT industries. Most recently as Vice President of Sales at Harmonic Inc., he lead a diverse team of sales professionals in driving North American sales of advanced MPEG 2, H.264 and VC-1 video compression platforms in the DBS, Telco, Broadcast and Government segments. As Director of Market Development for Cisco Consumer Products, Sakata used his business development expertise to help push the company's products into the Tier 1 service provider market. Prior to Cisco, Sakata honed his management skills as General Manager at Faroudja Labs' Broadcast Group, where he helped to spearhead the company's expansion into HDTV. Earlier in his career, Sakata refined his sale and marketing abilities as Vice President of Marketing at Louth Automation and Western Regional Manager at Vinten Broadcast.
