PARADE Magazine's Annual What People Earn Salary Survey Underscores the Huge Rift Between Celebs and the Rest of Us

From SpongeBob SquarePants to Catherine Zeta-Jones, Celebs are Raking in the Big Bucks

NEW YORK, March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- SpongeBob SquarePants, the fictitious, animated sea sponge/fry cook, who lives at the bottom of the ocean, raked in an impressive $1.5 billion last year, making him the top earner in PARADE magazine's 22nd annual What People Earn salary survey. SpongeBob and the 10 other celebrities featured in this Sunday's issue made a whopping 227 times more than the 120 regular folks who participated in the survey: $1.69 billion vs. $7.45 million, respectively.

Peyton Manning's Indianapolis Colts didn't make it to the Super Bowl this year. Nevertheless, the celebrated quarterback raked in $42 million bucks. Biker Lance Armstrong brought home $19 million, and swimmer Michael Phelps made a cool million. Jessica Sobolowski, a 28-year-old professional skier from Cordova, Alaska, made $30,000.

Hollywood women can't complain. Angelina Jolie made $25 million last year. Renee Zellweger made $21 million; Catherine Zeta-Jones, $18 million; Lindsey Lohan, $10 million and Jessica Simpson, $4 million. Mary Ann Thomas, a child-care provider from San Antonio, Tex., made $32,000 last year.

John Travolta had a $25 million cash flow in 2004. Mike Berniss, a 60-year-old airport screener from Bakersfield, Calif., earned $29,800.
