DENVER, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Colorado elementary and junior high students will gather at the Colorado Convention Center Saturday, March 19, for the 65th annual Colorado State Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Rocky Mountain News.

The competition will draw 4th to 8th grade students from schools throughout Colorado. Registration for the 270 pre-qualified competitors begins at 7:00 a.m., with a 50-word written test starting at 8:30 a.m. The oral spelling competition begins at 1:00 p.m., and is free to the public.

The Spelling Bee is an educational program designed by the E.W. Scripps Co., owner of the Rocky Mountain News.
