NASCAR Star Jeff Burton to Show Off Forecasting Skills on The Weather Channel(R)
Driver To Take A Turn At The Weather Map And Discuss How Weather Affects Racecars
ATLANTA, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- For race fans interested in conditions for Sunday's Golden Corral 500, The Weather Channel is a mandatory pit stop this Thursday as NASCAR driver Jeff Burton joins the Your Weather Today crew to discuss this weekend's weather and how conditions can affect both drivers and fans.
From 8-9am (ET), Burton will spend time with Your Weather Today meteorologists Heather Tesch and Marshall Seese to determine if the weather may once again affect drivers and fans at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
In addition, he will join Heather Tesch at the weather map to take a spin at forecasting. A big college basketball fan, expect Burton to give the forecast for conditions at Friday's NCAA men's basketball tournament game in Charlotte, North Carolina, between Delaware State and Burton's favorite team, the Duke Blue Devils.
After learning about weather forecasting, Burton will show his own expertise and walk meteorologist Stephanie Abrams through the features of his # 31 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Burton will explain how drivers monitor the weather to get properly set up for a race and how they adapt to conditions during a race.
Since being named Nextel Cup rookie of the year in 1994, Burton has taken the checkered flag in 17 Cup races, finishing as high as third in the point standings in 2000.
The Golden Corral 500 is scheduled to begin at 1:15pm (ET) on Sunday, March 20, at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia.
