Front Porch Digital Technology Chosen by A&E Television Networks to Manage High Resolution Content Library
BOULDER, Colo., March 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Incentra Solutions, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: ICEN) today announced that its Front Porch Digital (FPD) Broadcast & Media Division was selected by A&E Television Networks to provide its DIVArchive system to manage A&E Television Networks' high definition video archive. In addition, Front Porch Digital will provide BitScream transcoding, as well as customized development and on-going professional services in future phases of this initiative.
A&E Television Networks (AETN), a joint venture of the Hearst Corporation, ABC, Inc., and NBC, is an award-winning, international media company offering consumers a diverse communications environment. AETN is comprised of A&E Network(R), The History Channel(R), The History Channel International(R), The Biography Channel(R), The Military History Channel(R), The History Channel en espanol(R), Crime & Investigation Network(R), AETN International(R), and AETN Consumer Products(R).
"Given the complexity of our requirements, and the long-term scaling needs of our library, DIVArchive was clearly the superior choice for A&E," said Bill Harris, A&E's Senior Vice President of Broadcast Operations. "Front Porch Digital was also the only archive management provider that could deliver two best-of-breed transcoding software platforms (FPD BitScream and Telestream Flip Factory) integrated into my workflow. This is a unique combination, and proved very important to our decision-making."
A&E has committed to a complete digital end-to-end work flow by deploying a Sony digital tape library with 108 terabytes of storage. DIVArchive will manage the high resolution content and control the movement of that content throughout the A&E Stamford, CT facility. The first phase of the project will address the archiving of AETN programming and the restoration of the programs to broadcast servers for play out.
FPD's transcoding solution, Bitscream, will be used to generate WM9 files for viewing using a browser and specific file formats to accommodate AETN's digital play out servers. FPD's Professional Services Division will manage the integration into AETN's automation solution and participate in each of the additional phases of expansion.
"As evidenced by our new relationship with A&E, Front Porch Digital continues to win the confidence of the world's leading media brands," said Front Porch President Mike Knaisch. "We're also strengthening our position in North America. Our business in this region grew 487 percent in 2004, and we will be working hard to ensure that A&E becomes another strong reference for our Company."
