WHYY-FM Celebrates 50 Years
WHAT:
An all-star line-up of public radio personalities will be on stage for
"WHYY-FM Celebrates 50." The program, in the style of an old-time radio
special, will feature appearances by WHYY personalities, including Terry
Gross (Fresh Air), Marty Moss-Coane (Radio Times), Brenda Jorett (Morning
Edition), Dan Gottlieb, Ph.D. (Voices in the Family), and more. In
addition, the evening's celebration will feature guests from NPR,
including newscaster Carl Kasell, Weekend Edition Sunday host Liane
Hansen, and Wait, Wait ... Don't Tell Me! host Peter Sagal. The event,
which will also feature musical performances by folk singer Kenn Kweder
and Curtis Institute of Music students, will be recorded for later
broadcast on WHYY-FM. WHYY's Ed Cunningham will emcee the event.
93-year-old Allen Bonnell, one of the station's founders, will attend.
