Thomson Media Announces CardTech Program For 15th Annual CardTech/SecurTech Conference and Exhibition

NEW YORK, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading financial service providers will present their experiences with a wide range of advanced payment and ID technologies at CardTech during the 15th Annual CardTech/SecurTech (CTST) Conference, April 12-14, 2005 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

The highly interactive three-day conference program will feature 60 speakers representing the most innovative providers and users of card technologies. Attendees will hear about the latest advances and market experiences in biometric, wireless, smart card, contactless and emerging technologies for payments and fraud reduction at the point of sale and online. Richard Clarke, former cyber security advisor to the president of the United States headlines the program with an opening day keynote address on stemming the rise in identity theft crime, a challenge facing the nation's financial institutions and e-commerce providers. Attendees may then choose one, day-long workshop for each of the three days, from among seven offered.

Of note is the workshop on countering ID theft and fraud led by BITS CEO Catherine Allen. The latest technologies and legal and legislative developments in privacy and information security will be shared by panelists Dave Jevans, chairman of the Anti-Phishing Workgroup; Michael Yakel, vice president of product development, VISA USA and Liz Blumenfeld, vice president of card and deposit account fraud services, Guaranty Bank. Recent case studies will illustrate how to protect against threats to information systems.

Contactless tap-and-go chips are turning up in many new payment cards. Niki Manby, senior vice president, smart card applications at VISA, USA, David Bonalle, vice president and general manager, advanced payments development group at American Express, Ariana-Michele Moore, analyst, Celent and Akihiro Nakatani, senior manager, advanced technology, JCB Co. will look at current deployments and what the future holds for contactless and mobile payments. Avivah Litan, vice president and research director, Gartner Financial Services, Tom Manessis, vice president, new ecommerce channels, VISA International and Ed Kountz of TowerGroup provide a road map for emerging transaction technologies such as e-signatures, wireless payments, transit/retail payment convergence, micro transactions as well as new ATM content opportunities.

As many as six speakers/panelists will participate in each workshop.

New this year is the CTST Technology Pavilion and lunchtime TechTours, located on the exhibit floor, showcasing innovative biometric, contactless/RFID and POS terminal technology.
