Regence Helps Members Combat Rising Medication Costs Through New Pharmacy Services Web Site
New site provides consumers with innovative tools designed to help make better health care decisions
PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The new year means a new look for Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon's Pharmacy Services Web site. The state's largest health-insurance carrier has launched a Web site that is easier to navigate and provides members and their families with innovative tools to help them make better health care decisions.
The new site can be accessed via Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon's Web site at www.or.regence.com or at www.regencerx.com.
"This new site is part of our commitment to provide consumers with helpful, user-friendly tools that promote greater understanding of what drives health care costs, and simple steps that can be taken to help contain those costs," said David Clark, Vice President of Pharmacy Services.
To help educate consumers about the costs associated with the most commonly prescribed medications, Regence's new site features a tool called the RxPrice Guide. For example, when conducting a search for a commonly prescribed heartburn medication, the RxPrice Guide lists the cost of the particular medication, in addition to information about several alternatives. This enables consumers to become more informed about various options, and the costs associated with their choices.
A variety of helpful facts can be gleaned from the site's health calculators, including the cost of bad habits and the benefits of good choices. Consumers can calculate the hard dollar costs of smoking and estimate how long it takes to lose weight doing a favorite activity. The new site also includes information about generic medications, and the "ConsumerRx" education summaries cut through the "medical speak" to provide useful tips about medications.
