Pressman Toy Gets Movie Mania!
2005 Line-Up Includes Licensed Games for Three Hottest Movies of the Year
NEW YORK, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Pressman Toy is taking Hollywood by storm. The leading game manufacturer announced today that it is developing officially-licensed games and puzzles based on three of the hottest film properties of the year -- Zathura from Columbia Pictures, Fantastic Four from 20th Century Fox and Marvel, and King Kong from Universal Pictures. The games will debut at the American International Toy Fair, held February 20-23, 2005 in New York (showroom #1050).
"We're thrilled that three major Hollywood studios have chosen Pressman to make the licensed games for their top films of 2005," said Jim Pressman, president of Pressman Toy. "We have long licensed popular film, television and comic book properties for games and puzzles, but this is the first year that our line-up features three movie properties that are expected to be blockbusters."
Zathura, which will be released in theaters in November, is based on the best-selling children's book by Chris Van Allsburg, the award-winning author of Jumanji and The Polar Express. The story revolves around two brothers who discover a vintage board game that catapults them into outer-space. Similar to Jumanji, the film shares the common device of a magical game that motivates the storyline. The film is directed by Jon Favreau (Elf, Something's Gotta Give, Swingers) and executive produced by Ted Field (Jumanji, The Last Samurai).
Fantastic Four, the best-known team in comic book history, comes to the big screen this July. The film, which is about four people who are changed by cosmic rays, features an all-star cast including Michael Chiklis ("The Shield") as the Thing and Jessica Alba ("Dark Angel") as Sue Storm.
King Kong, debuting in theaters in December, is the most highly-anticipated film of the year. Directed by Peter Jackson (Academy-Award winning Director and Writer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy) and starring Adrian Brody (The Pianist, The Village, The Thin Red Line), Naomi Watts (The Ring, 21 Grams, Mulholland Drive) and Jack Black (School of Rock), the film is a remake of the classic 1930's film.
