Mega Millions Jackpot Grows to Estimated $50 Million; More Than 380,000 Tickets Win Prizes in Tuesday's Drawing

MEGA MILLIONS, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- With the largest jackpot in North America, the excitement is growing in Mega Millions! A total of 382,760 tickets from coast to coast were winners in the Tuesday, February 8, 2005 drawing. Each of them won prizes ranging from $2 to $175,000. Since no ticket matched all six numbers to win the estimated $40 million jackpot, that jackpot now grows to an estimated $50 million for the Friday, February 11, 2005 drawing.

Tuesday's winning Mega Millions numbers were 08-11-14-23-25 and the Mega Ball number was 21.

Four tickets came within just one number of hitting the jackpot. They matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number to each win $175,000. Those tickets were sold in Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Washington. An additional 35 tickets each won $5,000.

Mega Millions players won more than $2.8 million in Tuesday's drawing. Here is the breakdown:

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Officials in California have announced plans to join the fun later this year. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
