Knowledge Delivery Systems Delivers Solution for the Arkansas 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant (CCLC)
NEW YORK, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Knowledge Delivery Systems, Inc. (KDSI) announced the implementation of the Learning Today assessment and instructional program for adoption by the Arkansas 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21CCLC). The program was utilized in more than 70 schools participating in the after school grant. Knowledge Delivery is a re-seller of the Learning Today web-based assessment and K-5 reading and math curricula.
New York based KDSI provided an accountability solution of pre and post assessments required as part of the 21st Century Community Learning Center program, part of the government's "No Child Left Behind" initiative. Of all the solutions presented to Dee Cox, State Program Director, KDSI provided an easy solution that addressed Arkansas critical need for tracking and reporting the outcomes of 21CCLC.
"We purchased Learning Today's products for all of our 21 CCLC programs because we needed a statewide universal assessment to assist in the state's evaluation. At the time of the selection, our state 21st CCLC evaluation was based on 28 different assessment tools. After months of searching and speaking to many companies, we found Learning Today to fit our initiatives because it is appropriate for after-school programs, provides curriculum planning and student learning, and has immediate 'usable' reports for teachers, administrators and parents," stated Cox.
While the Learning Today Assessment product met the accountability needs of the 21CCLC program demands, many of the schools opted to purchase Learning Today's Smart Tutor(TM). The Smart Tutor(TM) program automatically takes each student's individual assessment results and builds a truly differentiated instructional program based each student's individual strengths and weaknesses. "This research based program was the perfect compliment and added critical instructional value to the after school program," commented Al Lockett, VP of Educational Technology.
Marie Pierce, Lead Teacher of Rose City Middle School in the North Little Rock School District, heads one of the programs that chose Smart Tutor.
"We chose Learning Today's Smart Tutor because being web-based, it is simple to implement and use, and the instruction really holds the children's attention. Also, the ability for the instruction to automatically fit each child's needs in as little as 20 minutes, three times per week works very well for us since we are an after-school program. We are very excited about using Smart Tutor and plan on conducting our own research studies on our students' academic gains, including a study of identical twins divided into control and experimental groups," commented Pierce.
