Cate Blanchett to Wear Giorgio Armani Prive Couture for BAFTA Event
LONDON, February 12/PRNewswire/ -- Cate Blanchett has chosen to wear a design from Giorgio Armani's first
Prive couture collection at the 51st Annual British Academy of Film and
Television Awards, which will take place on Saturday, February 12, at
London's Odeon Leicester Square. She is nominated for Best Actress in a
Supporting Role for her performance as Katharine Hepburn in "The Aviator."
Blanchett will wear a white gold evening gown with pearl embroidery that
features a leaf pattern set on gold lame fabric. The draped bodice cascades
into a mermaid flared hemline.
On Wednesday, February 9, Blanchett attended the London Film Critics
Circle Awards ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel in London. For that occasion,
she wore a black strapless fitted torchon-style evening gown with mesh
decorated with diamante and jet beads. This Giorgio Armani Prive dress
featured a side-swept hemline accented with a beaded rosette.
These evening gowns were two of 35 couture designs shown by Giorgio
Armani on January 24, 2005, during Paris Couture Week, when he presented his
first-ever couture collection, which he is calling Giorgio Armani Prive.
